Phoenix, Scottsdale or where?

The Phoenix metro area is made up of Phoenix plus about 15 smaller cities.
Many Canadians are asking specifically about Scottsdale. Not sure if they have just heard great things about the area or maybe that is the only area they have been given info on!

Scottsdale is an older city with an incredible downtown area including shopping, arts and the like. Single family home is Scottsdale start at approx $150k, but the homes were built in the 1950's. Many newer homes in Scottsdale start at the 500k+ range and go well into the millions. Scottsdale is centrally located, but for snow birds or vacationers, they may want to spend $150k less to live 20 minutes away!-- Bottom line- Scottsale is central, beautiful, but for those not wanting to spend $250k on a home or condo, we can look other places!
Fountain Hills is just E of Scottsdale. The area is hilly, mountainous and gives great views of the large "fountain" in Fountain Hills, It is also a high scale area where single family homes and townhomes/condos are the best deals. Here is a picture of the fountain!

I took a young lady out from Edmonton yesterday. We were looking at brand new, never lived in condos in Gilbert, AZ. Gilbert is just SE of Phoenix. The condos were beautiful, bank owned, and the prices started at 120k.

For those looking for a newer single family detached under 100k, I would suggest Queen Creek & Maricopa, which are 27 miles S and SE of
